For Easter we decided to take a visit up to Flaming Gorge Dam. Our new dog, Buddy, sat with me in the front of the car at my feet. It is a good thing our Impala has so much space. And for those who don't know, Buddy is a replacement for our young pup that had an accident jumping out of our truck:( But Buddy has been a good dog for our family. You can ask Tyler how he escapes out of our yard. We tease that his new name is Houdini.
This is a dirt pile that we found at a pull off in the mountains. Sally insisted on going on a hike where the dinosaurs used to live. This is as close as we got. This dirt pile made a fun slide for the kids and they thought they were on top of the world. Annie and I were just fine to watch and laugh at them.
We took a tour at the dam. It was fantastic! Randy was really scared of the heights at first, but decided to get over it the last 5 minutes of the tour. We were able to feed some huge trout at this location of the picture at the bottom of the dam. The kids covered their ears when we went past the 3 generators they have. We had an awesome tour guide who actually grew up watching her dad work to build the dam. She gave some fun and interesting facts like the fact that only three people died during the construction of the dam. It is amazing that this thing sends power to seven different states. Sally kept asking if you could swim in the lake with the fish.
Randy was so scared throughout the tour, I had to hold him. He said, "Mom, hold me." "I am." Then readjusting on me he says "Mom, I need you." " I have you." Then he really squeezes my neck. "Mom, hold me tighter." And at this point I can bearly answer back because he has such a good grip.
Our kids had a really fun Easter. They all got books from the Easter Bunny. After church we led them on a scavanger hunt throughout our entire yard and house. At first, Randy was just searching for eggs, but then he got the idea that the clue would tell him where to go. They rushed around over 14 different places until they found a bunny in the garage. Sally was super excited because she has asked for one since they are her favorite animal right now. We gave her a rule that she couldn't have her own until she was ten years old. Daddy gave in to his spoiled little girl. This is now the FAMILY bunny.
